Asclepias syriaca - Common Milkweed

Common Milkweed is an upright native perennial that grows in upright clusters with whorled green foliage.  Flat drooping clusters of fragrant flowers can be various colors such as purple, pink or white, and bloom from late spring well into summer and are followed by silky seedpods.  Performs best in full sun and dry to average well-drained soils.  Tolerates drought once established.  The milky sap released from damaged stems is toxic if ingested.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance plant. No serious pests or diseases.  Can spread aggressively.
